A delightful guide to how businesses are using Mamo Business

Written with love by
Asim Janjua

Mamo Business started as a service during the pandemic when friends with small businesses suddenly found themselves taking their business online and requiring digital methods of payments.

Cash in hand or cash on delivery were no longer options. Most of these businesses could not meet the requirements of prominent payment providers and gateways. They were usually businesses that were homegrown, in-service of the community, or simply not big enough (yet) and, as such, were pushed aside and forgotten by the financial services ecosystem.

According to the UAE Ministry of Economy, the SME sector represents more than 94% of the total number of companies operating in the country and provides jobs for more than 86% of the private sector's workforce. SMEs make up nearly 95% of all companies in Dubai alone, employing 42% of the workforce and contributing around 40% to Dubai's GDP (Source: The impact of SMEs on the UAE's economy, 18 Jul 2021).

Today, what started as a gesture of goodwill to support small businesses during a crisis serves as a go-to place for young business owners who have come to love Mamo Business. Here are some excellent use cases for Mamo Business from some of our early registered businesses.

Payment links on demand

Insta Global Tourism's travel company sends Mamo Business payment links to their customers abroad to pay in advance for their tour guide packages in the UAE. They do this via email and WhatsApp. Once a customer has paid, their booking is confirmed. What used to take days in bank transfers is now done in minutes. What's more, Insta Global Tourism uses their payment link like a POS machine, accepting payments in person, before a tour.

Payment on delivery

One of our early customers, Bloomingbox, uses Mamo Business as the payment gateway powering its e-commerce website and its payment links. While Bloomingbox accepts payments online through their website, they found that some of their customers preferred to call or message in to request delivery of custom flower bouquets; their customers enjoy the human interaction. To maintain this excellent human relationship, Bloomingbox simply used their Mamo Business payment links to receive payments for customer orders.

QR code payments

FNP, a flower and gift shop provider founded in 1994 and operating in over 120 cities, uses Mamo Business as their payment on delivery service. They have created a process whereby a customer scans a QR code on delivery, opening a Mamo Business payment link. Customers can quickly enter their payment details right from their mobile device.

Book and pay in advance

Padel Pro is Dubai's leading padel club and community, one of our team's favorite new sports. They use Mamo Business for advance payments from players during the booking process for courts. They have streamlined their booking and payment process, ensuring that they are not negatively impacted by no-shows, an essential requirement for a viable business that operates on booking and schedules.

Another upcoming business, The Mobile Barber (TMB), offers grooming services on the go; that's right, a haircut on the beach, TMB will do it! They use Mamo Business to collect payments and back-office accounting.

No-cash payments

In more ways than one, Mamo Business has become a lifeline for frontline healthcare professionals. On-demand healthcare providers such as Valeo, Coh Healthcare, and Sapphire, to name a few, use Mamo Business on-demand. Especially when customers do not have cash (a frustration for both customer and business). Valeo can move quickly between appointments while also making sure payments are received instantly, protecting their business continuity in providing essential healthcare services.

With so many options available in the market, Mamo would like to thank its business partners for choosing Mamo Business as their payments provider. Our current and prospective new businesses will be excited to learn that we have more delightful features coming soon, including more customization and features that make payment processing even faster and provide accounting integrations.

These are just a few examples of how businesses make the most out of Mamo Business.
